Like Hymns to the Ancient Gods this is a brilliant and original book that describes
astrology built on astrology rather than another discipline, such as Jungian
psychology. It is also extremely intelligent, setting out the author’s
unique and thoroughly convincing knowledge and deep understanding of his subject. Elwell’s
wisdom in astrology is built on a solid astrological framework based
on many decades of chart reading and writing about the subject. He has a unique take on things, a fantastic ability to explain to and involve the reader.
The material on Chiron is superb, encouraging a view contrary to that widely
held of this factor being a significator of (essentially) wounding. There is
also a stunning section on the death of Princess Diana that should be required
reading on any astrological course. One of the most involving, entertaining, provocative reads in this list.
